This building, with its child-focused science and art exhibits, is not easy to get to if you are just visiting SF. But it is worthy of a cab ride, or any way you can, visit. The art deco architecture and the story around it, how it was supposed to be temporary and yet has lasted decades, is fascinating all around. The interior exhibits are fun for anyone, but kids will get an extra kick..and if your kids are bored of sight-seeing, this is a great reward. The exhibits are also fun for adults. But the true gem is the exterior and the small park behind it. Stunning to the eye, peaceful and evocative.
