On an island where nothing is cheap, and meals represent the lionshare of a day’s spending, where and what you eat needs to be heavily researched. On Bermuda, you can overpay easily for a good meal pretending to be great; and likewise, you can pay a fair amount for a great meal in a divey kind of locale. Thus, the Lobster Pot. Certainly not upscale, but also not a dive, but a warm, upbeat, easy-to-eat and smile kind of place.
You have to start with the worthy-of-being-famous Bermuda seafood bisque. While found in nearly every restaurant on the island, this bowl was hot and thick and just amazing. I do not like sherry, but you do have to add just a touch to enhance the richness even more.
Main course? Dumb question, right? Lobster special platter; there are several variations of the size, whole or tail, side dishes, etc…but you don’t go to the lobster bin to order a burger! The lobsters are from Maine, which is a major factor since those are the sweetest. The cole slaw, fries, red plastic baskets it all comes in, the bib and towelettes and suddenly you are laughing, joking with the wait person, gobbling down the lobster dipped in melted butter.
And not that expensive (for Bermuda).
