Rotorua, New Zealand, and the Amazing Redwoods Treewalk.

New Zealand, and Rotorua…this time the unusual interpretation on redwoods with the Redwoods Treewalk. We are so used to standing on the bare ground in a sacred circle of redwoods, that to climb and walk among their heights was unique.

Redwoods and the giant sequoia have a mystic comfort that no other tree provides. It is true that if you sit inside a circle of these mighty giants, there are no bugs, no sounds, nothing but these living creatures reaching for the sky. In Rotorua, the nation’s largest national park, they planted many in 1901.

While not that fully grown — after all those you might see in Big Sur or Armstrong forest or Muir Woods are thousands of years old — they had yet to form the enclosing canopy found in California; the Kiwis and a German company created the Redwood Treewalk (#redwoodtreewalk) which creates a series of catwalks tying a groove together in a fantastic experience some 60 feet or more above the ground. The walk is so amazing; they even constructed some odd lights for a night walk. Nothing was lost in this new expression of their mightiness. The park limited the number of people which allowed the natural majesty to remain intact.

The stillness is just above ground. Even the usually noisy tourists seemed quieted by the beauty.
