
Never having been to Madrid, we did some planning but decided to approach the city the big euro city like an empty canvas we would paint exp[eeiences on. But quickly, and mostly due to the not-too-central fabulous AirBnB we stayed at, the city took on the proper mix of off-season tourism and exploring our neighborhood — especially our street, Calle Maria de Blanca.
Let’s start with some declarations.
Madrid is a city of empires. And the people seem to be very aware of it,

Great food lurked and like most tourist cities, too wide a range of quality for comfort. This was at a street cafe for lunch, near the Prado. Sardines, artichokes, potatoes, egg…
