And the winners of: Irish Restaurant Awards Munster Regional Final 2025.

Mulcahy’s of Kenmare, Ireland is a very good restaurant.
The BEST pate I have ever had. And it was chicken, which I normally avoid. I favor duck. From plate one I was grabbed.
The chicken chasseur was exquisite…delicate pieces in a creamy sauce baked inside a pastry cup. Perusing the menu, it was one of those moments when you look up from your menu at the other table: “What are they having? Change my order!”
Or maybe it was the beef Wellington that was the best…or the brown bread with the sweet crust (molasses?). It was all so damn perfect meal.

Mulcahy’s offers a wide-ranging menu, but if you wanted to go with just a few appetizers, that works, too. I did that one night and it was like a tasting menu.
A quirky detail: they introduced us to the best Vermouth I have ever had. When we asked, the (hilarious) lady brought us Valentia Island vermouth, the best I have ever tasted. Buy it down the street from the off-license store. Take it home. Have a drink and relive the meal. Then come back a few days later because you can’t resist. I did.
Mulcahy’s is warm, welcoming example of food done with elegance, simplicity and incredible fine taste. I’ve dined from Hong Kong to NY, all over Europe, they deserve all the kudos they are getting.
Their story is worth reading before you go.
